Travel Day to Boulder!

I am in Boulder now...but the travel day was interesting...so here you go!

I was up early to get in some Pilates (yes, Michelle!) and a little treadmill. I continued to add to my list while on the treadmill...."camera USB" (which I forgot), "vitamins" and other dull things. I am bummed I forgot the USB. That means you will be subjected to my Blackberry photos until I get home on Friday night.

I drove to Midway Airport and pulled into my favorite new parking place called EZ Parking on Central. Only $7.50 per day and they always ask if you would like a hand car wash for $10 while you are gone. "Wellll, YES!" They whisk you to the airport in three minutes flat.

The checkin was a breeze and I suddenly realized Crocs had purchased me a special airline ticket that allows TWO free checked bags. These days, that is a real treat. I stood in the middle of the checkin area and rearranged my bags for all to see and checked in a bag I had planned to carry on. Spoiled!

The ticket also allowed me to be priority seating. It turns out I was the ONLY one, so I was on the plane alone for about five minutes. That was a first. No online WiFi. My Uncle Lee from Florida is a big reason why we will have this technology on all planes soon. You are so smart, Unc! But this plane did not have WiFi. I figured I would read a magazine. Done. Then on to the TV channels which are only free until 20 minutes after takeoff. The fancy ticket Crocs gave me again came into play....the flight attendant came by and set my screen to have free TV the whole flight. Cool. I also got a free snack...when asked what I wanted as my "free premium snack" I asked if they had anything "cheese-like". The flight attendant was funny. She looked at me and said, "No. The closest thing we have is Wisconsin cheese curds." Hmm. Cheese! I'll take it.

I noticed the passenger next to me in 7B was wearing the same style Crocs I was. The Athens flips. Hers were in black/tan. I asked her how she likes her Crocs. I got to hear a lot of great stuff! It is true...if you ask someone who loves Crocs to talk about their Crocs, you will always hear a great story.

Shirley in 7B from Montana told me she first thought to try Crocs when she was at Home Depot and saw a 6'+ man working on a concrete floor all day on his feet. She asked him how that made his knees feel. He told her it was due to his Croc Bistros with all their extra cushioning. Shirley went to buy some and was a fast fan.

Shirley also told me that her mother stole her blue Caymans telling her, "I am taking these. They feel great, and you have plenty of other pairs!" Shirley wears her most comfortable Crocs at work. At a very cool place. It is Bequet Confections in Montana....http://www.bequetconfections.com/. Shirley makes the delicious carmels and is on her feet on concrete all day. The Crocs help. I would have enjoyed some carmels from Shirley but her kids ate them all while she was visiting them in Chicago.

Shirley also got her son, who is a Service Manager at a Chevrolet dealership, hooked on Crocs. He finds they are safer to walk around the sometimes oily or wet floors in the service area, and are comfortable to boot!

Shirley pondered her Crocs thoughts for a few minutes then asked me to help her, since I was going to be meeting Crocs Team Members this week. She says she believes her boss would purchase Crocs for all the employees at Bequet Confections if there was an easy way to order a bunch of sizes and pairs at once at a reasonable discount for a large purchase. I will bring this up carefully at some point this week....! Shirley, I hope you got the chance to visit this blog...let me know if I got all your details correct!

I hear the Denver airport has a fantastic Crocs store, but I could not find it. I caught my ride with Chris Hulting, another Crocs Ambassador finalist. Chris and I had plenty to chat about as he is from Elburn, IL. He used to live in a community behind the Fisherman's Inn. I told him we used to love to go there for pre-prom dinners and special occasions. For any of you who have been there, you may remember the restaurant makes custom matchbooks for dinner guests. I wonder if they still do that?

The ride to Boulder went fast and we arrived at the St. Julien Hotel. It is gorgeous! We were given gift bags at checkin. Chris and I immediately tore into the bags to discover Crocs Siggs, snacks, gift cards, notebooks and SHOES! Two pairs for me! A pair of black strappy heels, the Hanalei. And cute flats, the Crocband Flat.

After hanging up too many outfits and sniffing all the neat toiletries, I took off to find some sushi. It was getting late, and sushi joints usually close at 2:00. I ended up at Japango on the cute pedestrian mall...right across from the Boulder Crocs store! I hopped right over to the store after a quick snack and was excited to find three levels of Crocs! I met Nick at the register who asked where I was from. He is from Libertyville in Illinois, small world! He told me he loves Crocs and loves Boulder. I had to agree.

The store was awesome and I tried on every pair I could. I have a new wish list. The ABF Flip Single in Black. The Crocband Flip in Pink or White. The Tully in Bubblegum or Fuchia/Black. And the list goes on!!

After a long walk around Boulder, I headed back to the hotel and got to the computer. I checked out the fitness center first....very chic. Lots of free weights, too. (Thanks, Dad, for letting us borrow all your weights while you were in Florida this year!)

I am getting ready for the Crocs cocktail party at Jill's bar and restaurant downstairs. Tell you all about it later!
Oh, and here is a pair of plaid Crocs my husband Teddy will be wearing soon!

  1. Katie - I am sooooo happy you are enjoying my beloved Boulder. I am only TOOOO bummed that I'm at a conference in Breckenridge right now. Can't believe I missed your visit to Colorado. I can only imagine how you and your Crocs are making huge impact on the local folks - where ever you are, there's always fun!!!!

Try the burger on the jalapeno cheddar bun at the Jillian - it rocks. If you get a chance to dine at the Kitchen, don't miss it!
